Hey, Team Florida!
Happy October (almost)! Here are a few ways to get involved this month:
Neighbor2Neighbor and Indivisible are piloting a unique GOTV initiative in Florida and other competitive states. Instead of traditional canvassing where you would be sent to another community with a long list of doors to knock, they connect you with ten neighbors who may need some convincing to vote this year! You’ll receive a short list of addresses in your area and a simple script. Sign up here!!
Things are looking better and better re: Rick Scott vs. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell!! Recent polling has Scott’s lead within the margin of error, and well within the margin of influence… So, donate to Mucarsel-Powell’s campaign! Sign up to volunteer through her campaign! Or through this Mobilize page! This race is winnable, and flipping the seat could help Dems control the Senate.
Another incredibly important thing you can do this election season: write letters with Vote Forward. They’ve just launched a new, high priority campaign aimed at driving up turnout among young Floridian women, in part by publicizing the “Right to Abortion Initiative.” They need a lot of writers! Sign up now and send your letters by October 29.
Or, postcard with Postcards to Voters in support of Kelly Semrad! She’s running for Orange County Commission- click here to request addresses and help her campaign. You can purchase postcards from Postcards to Voters’ Etsy shop- they’re super cute!
Lastly, check out this brief voter guide from Democrats Abroad on Florida’s six proposed constitutional amendments. This is a great resource to forward to any less informed voters you know. Here’s the highly condensed version:
Vote NO on Amendment 1 - Make School Board elections partisan
Vote NO on Amendment 2 - The right to hunt and fish
Vote YES on Amendment 3 - Legalization of Recreational Marijuana
Vote YES on Amendment 4 - Protect a woman’s right to abortion
Vote NO on Amendment 5 - Adjustment to homestead property tax exemptions
Vote NO on Amendment 6 - Public financing of political campaigns
OK, that’s it for now. Thank you all for the work you’re doing!! I can already feel FL getting bluer.
Jess
Yes, Yes. thank you again. Democrats and like-minded people in Florida can look up their county Democratic Party and volunteer with them. PLEASE understand that after 2022, if you want to vote by mail, you must re apply. You can call your local Supervisor of Election or go online there. You are not required to use that ballot if you apply for it, you can still vote in person, but it is an insurance policy.
